So what happens at a Race Night ?
First of all you do not have to do a thing on the night. Our
compere brings all the equipment and ensures everything runs to
plan. Before any races are shown the compere will begin with an
introductory film which explains the rules and sets the scene.
Its very simple and quickly understood by everyone. The races
themselves consist of 8 horses identified by number only.
These are just as they appear on the projected screen (full
colour) with professional commentary by well known racing
commentators.
Members of
the audience choose their horse from the amusing names on the
race card which are also numbered between one and eight. They
then buy the corresponding ticket from the ‘Tote’ (betting
desk).
Its
usually £1 a bet. One of the library of races is randomly chosen
by the audience. Everyone cheers on the runners, hoping their
horse will
win. At the end
of the race the lucky winners will collect their winnings from
the desk and then betting reopens for the next race. In between
each race a small quiz is run.
